Tic Tac Toe Captcha

After getting inspired by a concept I saw on a website, I decided to make this idea a reality.

Long gone are the days where you have to enter a bunch of random unreadable characters into a text field, now you can just click a square, and you're done!

Here's a demo

In case you're wondering how the images aren't matched, the PHP's inner workings jumble around with the pictures quite simply, and the file sizes vary, so it can't be verified that way. I guess OCR is possible though.

Once it's finished, I might release it, I might not. Who knows? ;D

(Disclaimer, this isn't intended to be used for high security purposes, it isn't 100% foolproof, but it'll deter 99% of spambots)

Thanks! It's also an awesome way to prevent spam bots from screwing around without scaring people away

It's a good idea, but there's not many combinations involved, so running a script that picks the same one every time will eventually get it.

No. If its not 100% blocking bots, I'm not using it.

Just noticed the "Attempts" thing, now it seems like an awesome idea.

This is cool, but it can be bypassed, there are spambots that can read it, but still, great job

Same as OCR on a captcha. That's why I might use different characters instead of X and O, like Z and C, and distort the text.

This is great! So, when are you going to release it?

Once it's finished (:

Should I do it on an API service, like ReCaptcha, or source-code? The API service would be better as you wouldn't need to support all the complex modules it requires to run.

Good to know!

Why do you continuously try to raise your post-count? Does it really matter?

Back to the topic:

Flappi, good idea. I haven't tried the demo yet since I'm on a slow mobile network, but it is a nice idea. I suggest when you add different characters, you have to know which character (letter) is yours if that was not your intention already.

And, to the people who said this can be bypassed.

Yes, it can be bypassed, but so can recaptcha, it takes a lot of attempts, but as Grimz said there are attempts and what I think he means is, if you try a certain amount you get suspended from the site for an hour or so.

I sort of agree, Parker is super nice but his posts are usually pointless and generally clueless.

And on-topic: The demo is great, I can't even imagine how good the full version will be.

Pretty nice.

I vote on you making it some kind of API service like ReCaptcha.

I recommend making it smaller if you can.

It should be able to be resized.

Can't you release it both as source-code (so people like me can modify it) and api-based (So people can use it simpler)

Yeah, I'd enjoy tinkering with the inner makings of this fine captcha.
